Ever since I became a mother, I feel like people were always telling me to get my baby on a schedule as soon as possible. To be honest, this was never a priority of mine.
Maybe it’s because I’m not a ‘schedule person’, but I would honestly much rather go with the flow and not have to follow a specific schedule. Now, 17 months later, my toddler and I still follow this. I know this doesn’t work for everyone, but it works for us so why not embrace it?
Have you ever taken the Meyers Briggs test? Yeah, I’m a INFP to a T.
Instead of adhering to a strict schedule, Chet and I have a routine that we follow everyday. Sometimes it changes, but for the most part it’s pretty accurate. This allows our lives to still have structure, but it also fits our personalities better!
Being a stay at home/ work at home mom, I’m so grateful that we have so much flexibility in our daily lives. Here’s a glimpse at an average day for us:
-we wake up and make breakfast. (Chet almost always wakes up before me, because let’s face it, I’m just not a morning person haha)
-we clean up and play. I let Chet watch an episode of Daniel Tiger while I check my emails and messages.
-we get dressed, get ready for the day and run any errands we need to do.
-if we don’t have anywhere to go, we may just stay home and play. Sometimes we’ll go to the park or the library. We are total homebodies 🙂
-then comes lunch and nap. Chet’s nap is usually when I get most of my work done.
I honestly love being able to stay home with my son, work from home, and create our own special ‘schedule’ that’s our very own. It works really well for us and as a mother, there is so much security and comfort in knowing that our days are relaxing, laid-back, and filled with quality mommy & baby time.
When it comes down to it, you have to do what works best for you and your children… And if that means boycotting a schedule or living more in the moment, then I say embrace that!
Some of my favorite and most cherished memories with Chet are simple days at home when we have no plans at all. Reading our favorite books, cuddling, laughing, stealing kisses, that’s what motherhood is about. And those are the things I want to look back on and remember 🙂
I also have to share that Pink Blush is one of my favorite stores for mom friendly clothes! This shirt is comfortable and cute- the perfect thing for our days when we love staying home. I absolutely adore the print too- you just can’t go wrong with stripes and floral!
Are you more of a schedule person or do you prefer to kick back with a routine? What does your average day look like?
